McDonald's Disney 100 Years of Wonder - Loki Happy Meal Toy (2023)

McDonald's Disney 100 Years of Wonder - Loki Happy Meal Toy (2023)

A Century of Characters - and One Very Mischievous God

Welcome back, fellow Happy Meal hunters! If you've been following the Kids' Meal collector world at all, you already know that McDonald's 2023 Disney 100 Years of Wonder wave was one of the most ambitious promo sets in fast-food toy history. Sixty-two figures. Thirty-one box pairings. One extraordinary celebration of a full century of Disney magic. And right there in Box 20, paired with Moana, was a character nobody expected but everyone wanted - Loki, the God of Mischief, in Happy Meal form. 🎁

The Toy: Swagger on a Disney100 Base

The 2023 Disney 100 Years Loki figure is a compact, display-ready piece that captures the Asgardian trickster in his most iconic look. He's rendered in his classic green and gold costume - the right call for a commemorative promo where instant character recognition matters. The figure stands roughly two to three inches tall and sits on a molded base stamped with the Disney100 logo, a detail shared across all 62 toys in the wave that gives the entire collection a clean, unified feel on the shelf.

The plastic is rigid and durable, which is standard for this type of commemorative figure. Color comes primarily from molded-in pigment rather than detailed paint applications, keeping the look consistent even if some of the finer costume elements are suggested rather than fully rendered. The sculpt does a lot of work here - there's a subtle confidence in the pose, a slight hint of that Loki swagger, that lifts it above a generic standing figure. No articulation, but for display purposes, that's not a drawback. These were built to look good on a shelf, and they do.

Where Loki Fits in the Wave

The Disney 100 Years of Wonder set ran from October 31 to December 4, 2023, structured as 31 two-toy box pairings. Loki's Box 20 partner was Moana - an unlikely but somehow perfect pairing that says everything about the scope of this wave. Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, classic Disney animation, and newer properties all had representation. Characters as varied as Grogu, Darth Vader, Ant-Man, Panda Mei, and Alice shared the same collection, each on that same Disney100 logo base.

Within the Marvel and Star Wars subset alone - which includes Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, The Wasp, Black Panther, Gamora, Shang-Chi, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, The Mandalorian, and Rey - Loki is one of the stronger sculpts and one of the more sought-after entries. Marvel characters tend to pull a wider collector base beyond traditional Happy Meal audiences, which made the MCU figures in this wave some of the first to disappear from secondary market inventory.

"The Disney 100 Years wave gave collectors something rare - a single set that could appeal equally to Disney fans, Marvel collectors, Star Wars enthusiasts, and Pixar devotees. Loki's inclusion isn't a novelty; it's a reminder that the God of Mischief fits anywhere he wants, including a Happy Meal box."

Collector Notes

This wave rewards patience. Completing all 62 figures during the five-week promo window required real dedication, and the secondary market for key figures like Loki has stayed active since the wave ended. A few things worth noting for anyone tracking this set:

  • Display value over play value: These are shelf pieces. The molded base and rigid construction are designed for display, not play.
  • Unified base design: Every figure in the wave uses the same base footprint, making full-set displays clean and satisfying without any extra risers or stands.
  • Long-term collectibility: Disney centennial promos don't repeat. The 100 Years wave has a natural scarcity ceiling that keeps collector interest intact over time.
  • Cross-audience appeal: Loki specifically pulls from Marvel fans, Disney collectors, and Happy Meal enthusiasts simultaneously - a three-way overlap that's genuinely rare.

Display and Storage

The standardized base is one of the best decisions McDonald's made with this wave. Because every toy in the 62-piece set shares the same base shape and logo, they line up flawlessly on a flat shelf or tiered display. If you're not completing the full set, the Marvel and Star Wars figures group beautifully on their own - a dedicated mini-shelf or floating wall shelf lets Loki, Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest stand together without the full wave overwhelming the space. Loose figures display just as well as boxed ones here, thanks to that base doing the heavy lifting.

Still Hunting

I haven't landed a clean Loki from this wave yet - he slipped past me during the original promo run and I've been keeping an eye on the secondary market since. He's on my need list in the Collectiblz app, which is where I keep track of everything I'm still chasing across sets and waves. If you're working through the Disney 100 Years wave or any other collection, the app is genuinely useful for keeping your haves and wants organized in one place.

The God of Mischief in a Disney centennial Happy Meal base, paired with Moana - it shouldn't make sense, but the Disney 100 Years wave operates by its own magical logic. Loki earns his spot.
