McDonald's Happy Meal Trolls World Tour 2020 Branch Toy
Welcome Back, Fellow Happy Meal Hunters! 🍔
If you have a soft spot for colorful, personality-packed Kids' Meal toys, then the 2020 McDonald's DreamWorks Trolls World Tour Happy Meal wave is one you will not want to overlook. Released in the spring of 2020 - running from April through June - this set arrived right as the Trolls World Tour film made its debut, and it brought a genuinely fun assortment of character figures to Happy Meal boxes across the country. Today I am focusing on Branch, the lovably grumpy, survivalist Troll who slowly learned to let his true colors show - and whose toy is one of the most satisfying pieces in the whole wave.
Branch: First Impressions and Physical Details
The Branch figure from this wave is marketed as Party Branch, which is a nod to his arc in Trolls World Tour - the moment he finally embraces his vibrant, pink-hued Troll self. Standing at approximately 3 inches tall, the figure captures his signature stocky, rounded Troll proportions well. The plastic is a solid, hard molded material with a feel that holds up well to repeated handling - not brittle, not too lightweight. It has the durability you want from a toy that might see some real-world play before it ever makes it to a shelf.
Paint apps on Branch are clean and deliberate. His turquoise-toned body is consistent, and his expression carries that blend of cautious optimism that defines his character post-arc. His signature upright gray hair - now shifted to a more vibrant hue on the Party Branch version - is a single molded piece that gives him excellent shelf silhouette. From a distance, Branch is immediately recognizable, and that matters a great deal for a Kids' Meal toy that has to communicate character quickly.
There is some minimal articulation here - the figure moves at the waist or has a poseable element depending on the individual production variant - but this is largely a display and play piece rather than an action figure. That is completely in keeping with what McDonald's Happy Meal toys do best.
"The best Kids' Meal toys don't just look like the character - they feel like the character. Branch's sturdy build and confident stance remind me why this wave stood out. He's not a throwaway filler piece. He belongs on a shelf."
Wave Context: The Full Trolls World Tour Set
Branch is one of ten figures in the 2020 McDonald's Trolls World Tour Happy Meal assortment. The complete set includes:
- Party Poppy - the iconic, endlessly optimistic lead
- Cloud Guy - the walking, talking cloud with big personality
- Biggie and Mr. Dinkles - the oversized Troll and his worm companion
- Queen Barb - the rock Troll villain with serious stage presence
- Tiny Diamond - the bedazzled, rapping newborn with flair
- Party Branch - today's focus, and a strong contender for the wave's best sculpt
- Guy Diamond - the glittery, body-glitter-obsessed fan favorite
- Delta Dawn - the country music Troll with Western charm
- Cooper - the four-legged, giraffe-print Troll who marches to his own beat
- King Trollex - the techno Troll who brings an oceanic, bioluminescent energy to the set
Ten figures is a strong wave count, and what makes this set compelling from a collector's perspective is the variety. This is not a set of slight variations on a single design - each character brings a genuinely different silhouette, color palette, and sculpt approach. Delta Dawn and King Trollex in particular feel like standout sculpts, while Biggie and Mr. Dinkles together represent some creative packaging and design thinking for a single Happy Meal toy slot. Completing this set gives you a real cross-section of the Trolls World Tour cast, and the visual impact of all ten together on a shelf is substantial.
Branch himself holds his own nicely among the ensemble. He does not disappear next to the flashier Guy Diamond or the wild Cooper design. He has quiet strength as a piece.
Collector Notes
For adult collectors, the Trolls World Tour 2020 set occupies an interesting space. It arrived during a period when the promotional tie-in landscape was disrupted by the pandemic, which means some regional distribution was uneven. Finding clean, complete sets with minimal play wear can take a bit of patience. Branch in particular benefits from being stored carefully - his hair sculpt is prone to minor scratching if pieces are stored loosely together.
Display value is good. These figures look excellent grouped together by wave on a dedicated shelf, or organized alongside other 2020 McDonald's Happy Meal toys for a year-in-review collector display. They sit flat without tipping and hold their positions well. For parents who picked these up at the drive-through and now have them sitting in a bin - it may be time to reconsider the display potential here.
I have Party Branch on my need list in the Collectiblz app - I have been keeping an eye out for a clean copy since I missed the original promotion window. If you are tracking your own Trolls World Tour wave or any other Happy Meal set, the Collectiblz app is genuinely useful for keeping it all organized in one place.
Display and Storage Tips
If you are building out a Trolls World Tour shelf, group all ten figures together and organize them by the music genre each character represents - it mirrors the film's structure and makes for a visually cohesive display. Store loose pieces in small divided organizer bins to prevent paint wear between figures. If you are protecting for long-term value, small zip-lock bags individually per figure work well.
The Trolls World Tour 2020 Happy Meal wave is one of the more rewarding sets from that year to track down and complete. Branch is a worthy piece at the center of it.
