McDonald's Happy Meal Skylanders SuperChargers 2016 - Bone Bash Roller Brawl & Tomb Buggy

McDonald's Happy Meal Skylanders SuperChargers 2016 - Bone Bash Roller Brawl & Tomb Buggy

Welcome back, fellow fry-bucket hunters and drive-thru collectors!

If you grew up dropping quarters into arcade cabinets and doodling your favorite gaming characters in the margins of notebooks, the Skylanders SuperChargers wave from McDonald's 2016 summer Happy Meal lineup was made for you. Released from June 14 to July 5, 2016 - running alongside a separate Powerpuff Girls promo - this eight-pair set brought Activision's beloved Skylanders universe straight into the Happy Meal box. And Bone Bash Roller Brawl paired with the Tomb Buggy is one of the most distinctive and character-packed pairs in the entire assortment.

Bone Bash Roller Brawl is a zombie undead roller derby champion from the Skylanders universe, and she is as visually striking as they come. The McDonald's miniature captures her in a compact, roughly 2-inch hard plastic form with her signature purple and teal color scheme, sculpted helmet, and fist-forward skating stance. The Tomb Buggy features a skull-front chassis with skeleton-inspired wheel arches and bone detailing along the body, giving the whole piece a spooky-cool aesthetic that punches well above its promo-toy weight class.

Sculpt quality here is solid and chunky - built for little hands to grip confidently. Paint apps are minimal but well-placed, landing on Roller Brawl's face detail and the Buggy's key design accents cleanly. Molded color carries most of the visual work, as expected for a fast-food premium, but the plastic finish feels durable and the two-piece presentation holds together without any fussiness. There is no articulation - both character and vehicle are static - but that is entirely appropriate at this scale and format. What matters is personality, and these two deliver it in spades.

The SuperChargers concept - one Skylander paired with their signature vehicle - translates brilliantly into the promo toy format. McDonald's nailed the pairing logic here. Bone Bash Roller Brawl riding the Tomb Buggy communicates that character-and-ride relationship instantly, even in miniature. That design clarity is what separates a keeper from a filler piece.

The Full SuperChargers 2016 Wave

The 2016 Skylanders SuperChargers Happy Meal assortment includes eight character-and-vehicle pairs: Spitfire with Hot Streak, Shark Shooter Terrafin with Shark Tank, Bone Bash Roller Brawl with Tomb Buggy, Deep Dive Gill Grunt with Reef Ripper, Hurricane Jet-Vac with Jet Stream, Nightfall with Sea Shadow, Splat with Splatter Splasher, and Super Shot Stealth Elf with Stealth Stinger. Two of those pairs - Stealth Stinger and Splatter Splasher - had limited regional distribution and were reportedly harder to find at many locations. Bone Bash Roller Brawl and Tomb Buggy had wider availability and show up more regularly on the secondary market, though a clean, unplayed example still takes some patience to track down.

Within the wave, this pair ranks among the standout pieces. The Tomb Buggy design is more ornate than some of the simpler vehicle sculpts in the set, and Roller Brawl's character design reads clearly even in simplified promo form. Vehicle scale and aesthetic quality are consistent across all eight pairs, which makes the complete set a satisfying display lineup when grouped together.

Collector Notes

For play value, these are sturdy, well-built pieces that hold up to handling without showing wear quickly. The hard plastic is safety-conscious with no small removable parts, and the character-plus-vehicle pairing makes each set feel complete on its own. On the display side, you do not need the full assortment to enjoy a single pair - but building toward all eight is the real goal for dedicated collectors.

Long-term shelf appeal is strong for this wave. The McDonald's Skylanders tie-in sets span four consecutive years from 2013 to 2016 - Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team, and SuperChargers - and all four have maintained consistent collector interest well past their original promo windows. Bone Bash Roller Brawl is a fan-favorite character with a memorable design, and the Tomb Buggy is one of the more creative vehicle concepts in the whole line. That combination makes this pair genuinely worth adding to any promo-toy display.

For shelving, grouping all eight SuperChargers pairs together creates a unified lineup with satisfying scale consistency and real color variety across the assortment. Small risers help stagger the vehicles for visual depth. Organizing your broader McDonald's Skylanders collection by wave year tells a clear, four-year collecting story that looks sharp on a dedicated shelf.

I have this one on my need list in the Collectiblz app - Roller Brawl's color scheme and the Tomb Buggy's skeleton detailing make it one of the pairs I most want to slot into my SuperChargers display. If you are building out your own Kids' Meal collection, Collectiblz is a great way to log what you have, track what you still need, and keep your want list in one place.
