The 1999 Bunny E PEZ Dispenser Is the Chocolate Easter Classic That Sparked My Collection

The 1999 Bunny E PEZ Dispenser Is the Chocolate Easter Classic That Sparked My Collection

A Classic Easter Treasure That Started It All

The 1999 Bunny E PEZ holds a special place in my heart and my collection. This chocolate brown bunny was one of the three Easter dispensers PEZ released that year, and it represents the beginning of what would become one of my favorite collecting traditions-hunting down every variation of Easter-themed PEZ dispensers. The warm brown tone and gentle bunny face make this dispenser instantly recognizable to anyone who grew up in the 90s.

The Easter Innovation

What makes the 1999 Bunny E particularly collectible is that it was specifically designed for the Easter season. The chocolate brown plastic gives it an almost edible appearance-which is fitting for a candy dispenser-and the face sculpting captures that cheerful bunny personality perfectly. Unlike the generic bunnies you might see on Easter decorations, this one has real character and charm.

When I first spotted a mint 1999 Bunny E at a collector's convention in Ohio, I knew I had found a piece I couldn't live without. It was the spark that ignited my passion for seasonal Easter PEZ collecting.

A Design That Lasted

The 1999 Bunny E was so beloved that PEZ revisited this design years later, releasing updated versions in 2009 and 2019. Those later releases featured subtle variations-darker pink paint on the ears and some refinements to the eyebrows-but the core charm remained the same. Having the original 1999 version in my collection alongside the later releases gives me a wonderful perspective on how PEZ's design philosophy evolved.

Easter Collecting Gold

I've marked my copy in the Collectiblz app as part of my HAVE collection, and I smile every time I look at it. This is the kind of piece that makes seasonal displays sing-group it with the 1999 Lamb and Chick in Egg for a perfect 90s Easter trio. Whether you're new to collecting or a seasoned veteran, the Bunny E deserves a permanent home in any Easter PEZ collection.
