Leonardo Comic Style TUBBZ Collector's Edition Review - The Leader Gets Comic Book Glory
Cowabunga, Collectors!
Tanner here, and I've just gotten my hands on something that hits right in the nostalgic sweet spot. The Leonardo Comic Style TUBBZ Collector's Edition is a love letter to classic TMNT comic book art, and it's absolutely stunning on the shelf. If you grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-whether through the comics, the cartoons, or the movies-this duck is calling your name.
The Comic Book Blue Leader
This isn't your typical full-color TUBBZ. The Comic Style edition strips things back to bold black, crisp white, and striking red accents that scream classic inked comic art. Leonardo stands about 3.5 inches tall, sporting his signature blue bandana and dual katana swords. The paint work is exceptional despite the minimalist palette-the contrast between the black outlines and white highlights makes him pop off any shelf. His confident, leadership stance is captured perfectly, just like you'd see him in the original Mirage Comics.
Quality That Shows
This Collector's Edition feels premium. Numskull Designs engineered these with meticulous attention to detail, and you can feel it in your hands. The PVC material is high-quality, the joints are tight, and the balance is excellent. He's got real weight to him compared to standard figures, which is exactly what you want in a collectible that's going to sit proudly on display.
A Personal Throwback
I still remember sneaking issues of the original TMNT comics from my older cousin's stash when I was a kid. That raw, unpolished art style was so different from the cartoons, and it made everything feel grittier, more real somehow. Leonardo's famous line, "I am the leader of these turtles," always stuck with me-not arrogant, just confident and focused. Seeing that character rendered in that classic comic style as a duck is genuinely charming.
Display & Collection Options
The Leonardo Comic Style works beautifully as a standalone centerpiece, but he's even better as part of the full TMNT TUBBZ lineup. Pair him with Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to recreate the whole team in comic book style. Whether you're a long-time TMNT collector, a comic book purist, or just someone who appreciates high-quality collectible ducks, this figure deserves real estate in your display.
I already have this one marked in my Collectiblz app, tracking the rest of the wave because once you start collecting TMNT TUBBZ, you can't stop. These figures have a way of multiplying on your shelves.
Final Verdict
The Leonardo Comic Style TUBBZ Collector's Edition is a must-have for TMNT fans and TUBBZ enthusiasts alike. At .99, it's a premium piece that looks and feels worth every penny. If you love comic books, ninja turtles, or just collectibles with personality and quality, this duck leads the charge straight into your collection.
