Heimlich's Game Night: When A Bug's Life Gets Its Neon Arcade Doorables Moment!

Heimlich's Game Night: When A Bug's Life Gets Its Neon Arcade Doorables Moment!

Meet the Unlikely Arcade Champion

Today I'm unboxing the Disney Doorables Arcade Hoops Heimlich wave, and honestly? I wasn't expecting to pull this charmer. Heimlich - the tough-as-nails rhinoceros beetle from A Bug's Life - gets his neon makeover in the Arcade Hoops collection, and it is absolutely delightful. There's something wonderfully unexpected about seeing a no-nonsense construction foreman trading his hard hat for a pixel-perfect arcade glow.

For those new to Doorables, each figure is roughly 1.5 inches tall and packs that signature glossy finish with oversized, expressive eyes. Heimlich's Arcade Hoops variant features rich neon greens and teals against his classic green exoskeleton, with bright pixel-art patterns that make him look ready to conquer a 1980s game floor. The proportions are perfect - his sturdy frame translated beautifully into the arcade theme, complete with detailed paint work that captures every stripe and ridge.

The Challenge of the Pull

This one's an Ultra Rare, which means the blind-bag gods were genuinely smiling on me when I picked up this version. After months of collecting Arcade Hoops waves, Ultra Rares still hit different - there's a moment of pure joy when you realize what you're holding. Heimlich's relatively low pull rate makes him a meaningful addition to the wave, and the Arcade Hoops theme suits his personality in a way that's both humorous and somehow fitting.

There's something hilarious about Heimlich in neon. He's all gruff and serious, and then you stick him in an arcade game aesthetic and suddenly he's the most charming character in the collection.

I'm marking him on my Collectiblz needs list because this is the kind of pull I actually want to hunt for duplicates of - Ultra Rares deserve a backup display spot, especially when they're this well-designed. The Arcade Hoops series has such a distinctive look that these figures feel like they belong together, and Heimlich's confident stance makes him a natural centerpiece.

Display Ideas That Shine

For a character this bold, I'd recommend a tiered acrylic riser to line up the full Arcade Hoops wave side by side - the neon colors really pop when they're arranged together, and Heimlich's solid frame anchors the display beautifully. Alternatively, a glass-front display case with a dark background would make that pixel-art paint work absolutely glow, turning this little beetle into the hero of your shelf.

If you're hunting the Arcade Hoops series, don't sleep on Heimlich. He might not be the obvious character pull, but he's exactly the kind of delightful surprise that makes blind bags magical.
