Nemo's Best Friend Gets the Arcade Treatment: When Dory Takes on the Games in Disney Doorables!

Nemo's Best Friend Gets the Arcade Treatment: When Dory Takes on the Games in Disney Doorables!

You know that feeling when you round the corner at Target and find a wave you weren't expecting? 🎁

That was me this month when I spotted the Disney Doorables Arcade Hoops Dory figures at my local Target. This wave has me completely charmed - it's the perfect mashup of nostalgic arcade vibes and beloved Disney characters, and honestly, Dory might be my favorite from the whole collection.

For those new to Doorables, these little figures are roughly an inch and a half tall and absolutely covered in detail. The signature oversized glossy eyes are there - that's what makes Doorables so instantly recognizable - but what sets Arcade Hoops apart is the fun retro energy. Dory comes with her iconic blue and white striped look, but styled like she's ready to dominate the arcade games. The paint work is sharp and vibrant, with bright whites and ocean blues that make her pop right off the shelf.

What makes this pull extra special is how perfectly it captures Dory's personality. Even in Doorables form, you can feel her optimistic, adventurous spirit. The pose has her looking like she's about to win the biggest prize at the arcade - very on-brand for someone who braved an entire ocean to find her friend. The sculpting on her little fins is detailed, and the expression on her tiny face is just pure joy.

The Arcade Hoops Wave Deep Dive

Arcade Hoops marks another creative direction for Doorables collectors like me. After waves focused on seasonal moments and villain reimaginings, seeing characters get the arcade game aesthetic feels fresh. The wave includes other beloved characters, and the color palettes really pop - it's very collector-friendly display-wise, especially if you like arranging by color coordination on your shelves.

Dory as a Common pull in this wave actually feels right to me. She's been the star of not one but TWO major films, and bringing her into Doorables territory in such a fun, accessible rarity tier means more collectors get to add this gem to their collection. I've been steadily working through Arcade Hoops since it dropped, and honestly, I haven't hit a single dud.

Display Ideas and Collector Notes

I'm pairing this Dory with a few other ocean-themed Doorables I've pulled over time - it makes a cute little "Finding" sub-section on my floating shelf above my desk. The bright blues really stand out against my white acrylic risers, and she honestly looks great front-and-center. For anyone building out this wave, I'd recommend a glass-front display case or even a small shadow box if you want to make sure these gems stay dust-free; the glossy finish on Arcade Hoops figures really shines under just a bit of directional light.

There's something special about pulling a figure you didn't expect to love this much. That's blind-box collecting in a nutshell - you think you know what you want, and then a little blue fish in arcade clothes reminds you exactly why you fell in love with these collections in the first place.

I marked this Dory in my needs list on the Collectiblz app, and I'm already hunting for any chase or special variants this wave might have. That's the beauty of Doorables - just when you think you've caught them all, there's another shelf to fill and another character waiting to be discovered.
