The 1991 Scrooge McDuck PEZ Dispenser Is the Money-Loving Duck Empire Builder Every Disney Collector Needs
A Miser's Treasure from the DuckTales Era
I've always had a soft spot for Scrooge McDuck. There's something irresistible about a character who embodies both shrewd business savvy and reluctant family loyalty, all wrapped up in a pair of wire-rimmed glasses and a Scottish brogue. So when I discovered the 1991 Scrooge McDuck PEZ Dispenser was available, I knew exactly where it needed to go - on my want list.
The 1991 Scrooge McDuck PEZ Dispenser captures the beloved duck during the height of the original DuckTales animated series. This variant, often called the "B" version, features Scrooge with his iconic molded sideburns and glasses positioned close to his eyes, giving him that sharp, calculating expression that suits his character perfectly. The head sits atop the classic PEZ stem mechanism, ready to dispense candy or simply take a place of honor on a display shelf.
Character Design and Physical Details
What sets this dispenser apart is the meticulous sculpting. The artists captured Scrooge's distinctive duck features - the bill, the feathered head shape - while emphasizing his personality through those close-set glasses. The paint application includes his signature yellow coloring and red jacket, all rendered in the detailed style PEZ reserved for their licensed Disney characters from this era.
Like many PEZ releases from 1991, this dispenser came in multiple stem variations. Some versions sit on thick Austria-marked stems, while others feature different colored bases made in Austria or Slovenia. These variations are part of what makes collecting PEZ so rewarding - each version tells a story about manufacturing dates and market regions.
"Scrooge McDuck represents the collector's spirit - the drive to seek out treasures, understand their value, and protect what matters. Having his PEZ form displayed alongside other Disney characters feels like honoring that same collecting passion we all share."
The DuckTales Connection
This PEZ was released during DuckTales' original animated run, when the show had captured the hearts of kids and families everywhere. Scrooge McDuck wasn't just a cartoon character - he was the anchor of the entire series, leading Huey, Dewey, and Louie on adventures while dispensing wisdom (and occasionally grumpiness) in equal measure. That cultural moment is frozen in PEZ plastic, making this dispenser a direct artifact of early-'90s Disney nostalgia.
For collectors who grew up watching DuckTales, this dispenser represents more than just a piece of PEZ history. It's a touchstone to Saturday morning cartoons, to simpler times, and to the characters that shaped our childhood sense of adventure and fun.
Display Value and Collector Appeal
The 1991 Scrooge McDuck holds its own among serious Disney PEZ collectors. Retired from active production, it's become a sought-after piece for completionists building out their DuckTales collections or their broader Disney PEZ sets. The character's enduring popularity - thanks to the recent DuckTales revival series - keeps interest steady.
On my shelves, I'm imagining this one displayed alongside other character dispensers from the same era. The consistent sculpting and paint quality from 1991 makes mixing and matching Disney characters feel intentional rather than haphazard.
Adding to the Collection
I've added the 1991 Scrooge McDuck PEZ Dispenser to my needs list in the Collectiblz app. Whether I track it down at a show, hunt for a sealed example online, or stumble across a loose version for a great price, I know I'm hunting for something that'll bring genuine joy to my collection.
If you're a DuckTales fan, a Disney PEZ devotee, or just someone drawn to the charm of early-'90s character dispensers, keep an eye out for this one. Scrooge McDuck's PEZ form is waiting to join your collection - and judging by his character, he'll be worth every penny you invest.
