The Madagascar 2 PEZ Dispenser Set Is the Roaring DreamWorks Essential Every Animated Collector Craves
Bring the Wild to Your Collection
When DreamWorks' Madagascar sequel hit theaters in 2008, the team at PEZ didn't waste any time getting these wild and witty characters into dispenser form. The Madagascar 2 PEZ Dispenser Set features the beloved cast from Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and these molds are absolutely charming. Whether you prefer Alex the Lion's confident grin, Marty the Zebra's stripes, or any of the other characters from the films, the sculpts capture each animal's personality with impressive detail.
What Makes These Dispensers Special
The Madagascar 2 dispensers are particularly sought-after because they arrived during the golden era of DreamWorks licensing with PEZ. The character molds are colorful, with hand-painted details that make each one stand out on a shelf. Some versions feature soft, flexible ears or other molded accessories that add dimension beyond a flat plastic head. Released in 2009, these dispensers have been out of production for years, making them a genuine find for collectors hunting through secondary markets and conventions.
The Madagascar franchise has such distinctive character designs, and PEZ really nailed capturing that energy in these dispensers. When I first spotted them at a collectors' show years ago, I grabbed several for my display wall - they've become one of my go-to conversation starters.
Display and Collection Value
These dispensers work beautifully as a themed group. Many collectors arrange them together to recreate the main cast, and since they share the same 2009 release window, they display naturally as a cohesive set. The retired status adds to their appeal - new collectors often pursue these first if they're building a DreamWorks PEZ collection, and the scarcity keeps them on wishlists.
I marked mine in the Collectiblz app as a cherished part of my DreamWorks corner. If you're hunting for these to round out your animated film collection, they're worth the hunt.
