Samba the Parakeet: A Fiesta of Color in the Day of the Dead Squad
A Fiesta Friend with Serious Collector Appeal
Oh my goodness, have you met Samba the Parakeet 8-inch Squishmallow? This gorgeous little birdie is part of Squishmallow's Day of the Dead Squad, and she is absolutely stealing the show with her vibrant black and pink plumage. Samba brings all the festive energy of Día de los Muertos celebrations right into your collection - and honestly, I'm obsessed.
The Softness Factor (Plus That Sugar Skull Charm)
Let me be real with you - the first thing you notice about Samba is how ridiculously soft she is. That signature Squishmallow polyester fabric is like touching a cloud, and at 8 inches, she's the perfect size for squeezing while you're reading or just having a rough day. The black base color with those hot pink accents gives her this playful, almost tropical vibe that screams personality. Her face has that iconic Squishmallow sweetness, and there's something special about owning a Squishmallow that celebrates cultural traditions like Day of the Dead.
The Squad Goals Are Real
Samba dropped on December 5, 2024, as part of the Day of the Dead Squad - which means she's a seasonal release. In the Squishmallow world, that makes her extra special. The 8-inch size is honestly the Goldilocks zone for collectors like us. It's big enough to show off the detail and design, but small enough that you can actually display a whole squad without your shelves looking like they're about to collapse. This size range has over 1,000 character variations, which is both amazing and slightly terrifying for your wallet.
Finding Your Fiesta Friend
The Day of the Dead Squad is showing up at Target, Amazon, Walmart, and specialty retailers like Owl & Goose Gifts. Depending on where you shop, you're probably looking at anywhere from -, which is totally reasonable for a plush this soft and special. Since it's a holiday-exclusive release, I'd definitely grab her sooner rather than later - seasonal squads have a way of disappearing fast when people realize how adorable they are.
A Personal Paige Moment
I discovered the Day of the Dead Squad while hunting for holiday-themed collectibles last year, and I was immediately drawn to how respectfully Squishmallow celebrated the holiday. Samba specifically caught my eye because parakeets have always been my jam - they're bright, colorful, and full of personality, just like the Squishmallows I love most. The black and pink color combo is chef's kiss perfection, and every time I look at her, I'm reminded that collecting isn't just about having stuff on a shelf - it's about celebrating the stories, cultures, and joy that each character represents.
