Oh, what a thrill to hold the Gamora figure in my hands! As someone who grew up watching the Marvel films and absolutely adored this character's journey from Thanos's weapon to one of the Galaxy's greatest guardians, having her in my Disney Infinity collection feels like a true victory. Zoe Saldana brought Gamora to life with such fierce determination, and this Disney Infinity 2.0 Gamora figure captures that warrior spirit perfectly.
Gamora, known as "The Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe," is one of Marvel Comics' most compelling antiheroes. Created back in 1975 in the pages of Strange Tales, her story is one of redemption and strength. From being Thanos's assassin to becoming a founding member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, she's proven time and again that she's so much more than what anyone expected of her.
The Sculpt and Paint Work
The sculptors at Avalanche Software really knocked it out of the park with this Disney Infinity 2.0 Gamora figure! The attention to detail is absolutely incredible. Her martial arts pose exudes confidence and power, with her signature flowing black hair captured beautifully in the sculpt. The figure stands about 3-6 inches tall, featuring her iconic green skin with perfect paint application and those purple costume accents that instantly mark her as Gamora.
What I absolutely adore about this sculpt is the form-fitting costume design - it stays true to both the comic book and MCU interpretations. Her outfit combines black and purple elements, and the paint work on her face is so precise. Every element, from her determined expression to her ready-for-battle stance, tells a story of a character who's overcome incredible adversity.
Gaming Power and Abilities
In Disney Infinity 2.0, Gamora functions as a hybrid melee-ranged fighter, giving players incredible flexibility in combat. I love how her gameplay matches her character - she's fast, deadly, and adaptable. Her sword-based attacks include devastating moves like her Sword Uppercut for breaking through enemy defenses and a spinning slash that repels foes. For ranged attacks, she comes equipped with an energy rifle that can be upgraded throughout the game.
Her special abilities make her truly shine on screen. She's a Super Jumper with enhanced mobility, can boost her Maximum Strength, and is proficient as a Marksman with firearms. As the old saying goes, "I am Groot" - wait, wrong Guardian - but seriously, Gamora gets to shine right alongside her allies. She received a significant stat boost in later patches, making her incredibly powerful for both close-quarter and ranged combat. Players who master her skill tree will find her to be insanely fast with sword reaches that can hit multiple enemies in a single swing.
The Guardians Play Set Experience
Gamora appears in the Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Play Set for Disney Infinity 2.0, released in 2014 alongside the blockbuster film. This play set transports you to a unique space setting that feels distinctly different from the urban environments of other Marvel play sets. The campaign draws from both the MCU film and comic book lore, creating an experience that fans of the Guardians will absolutely treasure.
One of my favorite things about this play set is the costume unlock options - you can earn a Space Armor costume for Gamora that provides visual variety and helps you feel immersed in the Guardians universe. While Disney Infinity 2.0 moved away from the Crystal and Chrome variants of earlier figures, this character-specific customization keeps things fresh and exciting.
A Collector's Prize
Like many figures from the Disney Infinity line, Gamora is now out of production, which makes her a sought-after addition for collectors like us. When she first released, the quality was exceptional, and that's held up beautifully over the years.
