The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary PEZ Dispenser Set Is the Classic Film Must-Have Every Nostalgic Collector Needs
A Magical Collection for Dorothy Fans
There's something timeless about The Wizard of Oz. My grandmother had the film on VHS, and I must've watched it a hundred times growing up. So when PEZ released this set for the movie's 70th anniversary in 2009, I knew I had to add it to my collection. The Wizard of Oz PEZ Dispenser Set captures the magic of the classic film in eight beautifully sculpted characters.
The Complete Cast in Candy Form
This limited edition set includes all the beloved characters: the Cowardly Lion with his distinctive mane, the Tin Man with his metallic gray finish, the Scarecrow with his patchwork charm, Dorothy with her iconic gingham dress, little Toto, the good Glinda with her crown and wand, the mysterious Wizard, and the Wicked Witch of the West in her threatening green glory. Each dispenser is individually detailed-the paint applications capture personality and costume elements that make them instantly recognizable, whether you're a Wizard of Oz fanatic or just love classic PEZ collectibles.
Why This Set Stands Out
What makes this set particularly special is its exclusivity. PEZ only manufactured 300,000 of these sets worldwide, and you couldn't buy the dispensers separately-they came exclusively in the boxed gift set. That limited production run means these are harder to find complete today, especially if you're tracking down one with all eight in pristine condition. The set has a substantial, premium feel with its collector's packaging, making it display-worthy whether it's unopened or loved and enjoyed.
Display Magic
I keep mine on a shelf dedicated to character-themed dispensers, grouped by film franchises. The Wizard of Oz set commands attention next to my other movie-inspired PEZ collections. If you're into Dorothy or classic Hollywood, or if you collect all things Oz, this set is absolutely worth hunting down. The characters are charming, the paint work is solid, and owning the complete set feels like owning a little piece of film history right on your shelf.
This set has been on my needs list for a while, and I'd love to track down a complete original set if you spot one. It's the kind of collectible that makes me smile every time I walk past it.
