Mei's Big Academy Moment: When Turning Red Meets Disney Doorables!

What's up, collectors! I just had to share this adorable pull with you because it perfectly captures that back-to-school magic that made Turning Red such a joy to watch. Today's feature is the Disney Doorables Academy Student Body Panda Mei, a Rare that brings some serious charm to the newest Academy wave!

If you haven't seen Turning Red yet, Mei is basically the heart and soul of the whole movie - a confident, creative, and unapologetically enthusiastic 13-year-old who loves everything from boy bands to doodling in her notebook. So naturally, when she showed up in the Academy collection, I lost it a little bit. This version captures her in her element: energetic, ready to take on the world, and absolutely loving every second of it.

The figure itself is gorgeously crafted. We're looking at that signature Doorables size - roughly 1.5 inches of pure joy - with Mei's iconic red panda features in soft, squishy materials. The color palette is vibrant reds and blacks that really pop, with glossy eyes that have that classic Doorables shine. The pose feels like she's mid-leap into her day, and there's this playful energy frozen in the sculpt that just makes you smile.

Mei taught me that loving what you love - whether that's boy bands, collecting, or just being authentically yourself - is never something to be embarrassed about. That's the spirit this Doorables brings to any collection.

For an Academy Rare pull, this one hit just right. The Academy collection has been one of my favorite releases this year because it spans so many different Disney franchises and characters. You've got classic characters like Mickey and Minnie getting their scholarly moment, but then you also get modern favorites like Mei who feel just as at home in the lineup.

I've got this one displayed on a floating wall shelf next to my Munchlings collection in the kitchen - I figure Mei's food-loving energy (hello, dumplings!) pairs perfectly with those little food-character hybrids. If you're building out your Academy set, this Rare is definitely worth hunting for, and if you're a Turning Red fan like I am, it's basically mandatory. This little panda has earned her spot in my heart and on my shelf!
