Pop! Bobby Hill (Robata Chane): Arlen's Favorite Chef Just Got a Reason to Trend Again

Pop! Bobby Hill (Robata Chane): Arlen's Favorite Chef Just Got a Reason to Trend Again

Hey y'all! Animated TV shelf, represent! I just watched Pamela Adlon back on Good Morning America talking about stepping into the recording booth again as Bobby Hill for the new season, and something about hearing her talk about that voice again sent me straight to my King of the Hill row to make sure everybody was standing up straight.

Meet Bobby, Teppanyaki Style

This one is Pop! Bobby Hill (Robata Chane), number 2274 in the King of the Hill Pop Animation line, and it captures Bobby mid obsession with one of his many, many hobbies: playing teppanyaki chef at the Japanese steakhouse table, spatula in hand, ready to flip a shrimp into somebody's shirt pocket. If you know Bobby, you know this is exactly the kind of specific, weirdly earnest detail that makes him the funniest kid in Arlen. The sculpt nails his soft round face and that permanently delighted expression, like he just discovered his new favorite thing in the world, which for Bobby happens approximately every episode.

Standing about 4.1 inches, the figure's got great presence for how simple the King of the Hill art style is on paper. Funko had to translate flat 2D character design into a 3D vinyl body, and Bobby's chef outfit gives him just enough color and texture (that little apron, the tools) to stand out from the rest of the Hill family lineup instead of blending into "generic yellow shirt guy."

Part of the Full Arlen Roster

Bobby isn't alone on this shelf. The King of the Hill Pop Animation wave also includes Hank Hill with his signature stance, Peggy Hill, Dale Gribble, Bill Dauterive, and Boomhauer, plus a second Bobby variant (Kicking) if you want to double up on him. I love grouping animated sitcom families like this together because it tells a story just standing there. Hank looking mildly disappointed in one direction, Bobby thrilled about literally anything in the other, that is the whole show in miniature.

Paint, Packaging, and Box Notes

Standard Funko window box packaging, and the paint apps on this one are clean, no bleed on the smaller chef accessories which is always my worry with figures this size. Box art uses the same Pop Animation branding as the rest of the King of the Hill wave, easy to spot on a shelf or in a bin at your local shop. Collectors who keep things sealed will want a corner protector since these Animated TV boxes ding easily, but honestly this whole line photographs so well out of box that I lean toward display over storage.

Why Now

King of the Hill's revival has been one of those "wait, they brought it back?" surprises that turned into a genuine glad-they-did, and Pamela Adlon returning to voice Bobby is a big part of why longtime fans are paying attention again. New season attention is exactly when a line like this either gets rediscovered by returning fans or discovered for the first time by people who missed it during the original run. Either way, Arlen merch is having a moment.

My Bobby Hill Story

I did not grow up watching King of the Hill on purpose, my older cousin had it on constantly and Bobby was the character I actually understood as a kid, the one who was into weird specific stuff nobody else cared about and did not apologize for it. Finding out Funko made a whole wave for this family felt like validation for eleven year old me.

Where This One Fits

Bobby Hill is not yet on my shelf and he has officially made my Collectiblz needs list, right next to the rest of the King of the Hill wave I am slowly hunting down. If you have a lead on this one loose or in box, I am listening.

Collector Notes

Demand on King of the Hill Pops has been steady rather than explosive, which honestly makes this a good line to collect without getting caught in scalper chaos. Prices stay reasonable on the secondary market, and a revival season is the kind of thing that can nudge demand up without blowing prices out entirely. Good time to grab what you are missing before that happens.
