McDonald's Shopkins 2015 Connie Coin Bag Happy Meal Toy

Welcome to the Checkout Lane, Collectors!
If there was ever a Happy Meal wave that blurred the line between toy and collectible, the McDonald's Shopkins 2015 set was it. Released in late December 2015 - right alongside the Shopkins Season 4 retail launch - this promo hit at exactly the right moment. Shopkins were everywhere that holiday season, and McDonald's had the good sense to bring the tiny shopping world straight to the Happy Meal box. Today I'm focusing on Connie Coin Bag, one of the Purses characters from this set, but we'll absolutely be covering the full wave because this is one you really do want to complete.
Meet Connie Coin Bag
Connie Coin Bag is a Purses-category Shopkin, and she's exactly what you'd hope for in a Happy Meal figure. She's a compact, smooth-molded coin bag shape rendered in a single solid color - the molded-color approach used across this entire wave keeps her looking clean and purposeful rather than cheap. She sits in that sweet spot where the sculpt reads instantly as what she is, the proportions are satisfying, and the face detailing is simple but expressive. No paint apps to chip, no loose pieces to lose in the bottom of a Happy Meal bag. At roughly the same footprint as a large gumball, she's bigger than a standard retail Shopkin - a deliberate choice that makes her feel premium and easier to display on a shelf without losing her between the cushions.
Her molded plastic has a smooth, slightly glossy feel - not brittle, not overly soft. For a fast-food toy, the plastic quality here is genuinely good. She has no articulation, of course, but for a Shopkin that's exactly right. She's a display piece and a collectible first, a play piece second.
The Full Wave - What You're Really Chasing
Connie Coin Bag is part of a much larger assortment. Each Happy Meal pack came with two Shopkins - one visible and one hidden in a blind bag - along with a mini shopping basket (in blue or pink), a turquoise shopping bag, and a collector's guide. The visible figures were numbered 1 through 16, giving the set real structure. Here's the full breakdown of characters by category:
- Dresses: Bella La Ball, Tutusweet, Judy Jumper, Suzie School Skirt
- Purses: Carrie Clutch, Rebecca Bag, Wendy Wristlet, Katie Clasp, Heidi Handbag, Connie Coin Bag, Duffa
- Beauty: Curly, Polly Polish, Kelsey Compact, Mia Mirror, Rhonda Ring, Penelope Perfume, Tiara
- Shoes: Teenie, Sneaky Sally, Jennifer Rayne, Prommy Kitty Flats, Sneaky Wedge, Flippa Flops
- Rare: Tutusweet, Teenie, Suzie School Skirt, Bella La Ball, Rhonda Ring, Flippa Flops, Prommy Kitty Flats, Judy Jumper
- Ultra Rare: Tiara, Kelsey Compact, Penelope Perfume
The rare and ultra-rare tiers added genuine excitement to the hunt. Rare figures had a distinct finish that set them apart from the commons, and the three ultra-rares - Tiara, Kelsey Compact, and Penelope Perfume - were the real prizes. If you're building a complete display, tracking down those ultra-rares is still the challenge a decade later.
The 2015 Shopkins Happy Meal set worked because it understood what made Shopkins appealing in the first place - the hunt, the categories, the satisfaction of a complete set. The blind bag element inside each pack was pure collector instinct, dropped right into a fast-food lunch.
Collector Notes
For display, these figures work beautifully grouped by category. A Purses shelf with Connie Coin Bag, Carrie Clutch, Rebecca Bag, Wendy Wristlet, Katie Clasp, Heidi Handbag, and Duffa lined up together makes a visually cohesive display that reads instantly. Alternatively, grouping all 16 numbered figures in order on a small stepped display tier gives the set the organized, wave-complete feeling it deserves.
Play value is solid for younger kids - the size is generous and the figures are smooth-edged and safe. For adult collectors, the value is in the completeness of the set and the nostalgic pull of the 2015 Shopkins era. These toys came out right when Shopkins was at its cultural peak, which means they carry real sentimental weight for anyone who lived through that wave.
Keeping them in original condition means dry storage, no direct sunlight to fade the single-color plastic, and ideally keeping the collector's guide intact if you have it. The blind-bag hidden figures are still a legitimate chase for set completionists - condition-graded loose figures show up in secondary market searches regularly, and the ultra-rares carry noticeable price premiums. If you are building toward a full 56-figure run, budgeting time to hunt the rares and ultra-rares separately is the smart approach.
I picked up Connie Coin Bag during a lunch run back when this promo first hit - grabbed a few Happy Meals over a week trying to build out the Purses category. She's been logged in my Collectiblz app ever since, sitting in the Shopkins 2015 wave alongside the rest of my set progress. If you're tracking your own McDonald's Shopkins haul, Collectiblz is the easiest way to keep tabs on what you have and what you still need across a wave this big.
Connie Coin Bag may be a modest piece on her own, but as part of one of McDonald's best-executed collectible waves of the decade, she is absolutely worth tracking down. 🧸
