2025 Topps Chrome Disney #36b Joe Gardner VARVAR: In Soul Form - Chrome Magic Beyond the Great Before
Hey there, collectors and Disney dreamers! 💙
Do you believe in the magic of music and the beauty of a soul's journey? Then you absolutely need to add the 2025 Topps Chrome Disney #36b Joe Gardner VARVAR: In Soul Form to your collection! This isn't just any card - it's a variant that captures one of the most visually stunning and emotionally powerful moments from Pixar's "Soul." If you've ever wondered what pure essence looks like in chrome perfection, this is it!
The Great Before Meets Chrome Brilliance
Card #36b is a VARVAR (variant) that shows Joe Gardner in his soul form - that gorgeous, glowing blue ethereal version we fell in love with in the movie. Unlike the standard base card that shows Joe in his human form, this variant captures him as a translucent, shimmering soul floating in the cosmic wonder of the Great Before. The Topps Chrome treatment makes this card absolutely breathtaking - the refractor technology creates an otherworldly glow that perfectly mirrors the luminous animation from the film.
The card features Joe's soul form with that characteristic peaceful expression, surrounded by swirling blues and purples that evoke the mystical realm between life and death. Every angle you tilt this chrome card reveals new depths of color - aqua blues shift to deep indigo, and subtle rainbow patterns dance across the surface just like the cosmic energy in the movie. It's like holding a piece of the Great Before in your hands!
A Soul-Searching Collection Moment
I have to tell you about the day I found this card. I was at my local card shop, casually flipping through a fresh box of 2025 Topps Chrome Disney, when I pulled this variant. My heart actually skipped a beat! "Soul" is one of those Pixar films that hits different - it made me cry in the theater, and it still makes me think about life, purpose, and what really matters. Seeing Joe in his soul form on a chrome card brought all those emotions flooding back.
What if the spark isn't about having a purpose? What if it's just about being ready to live?
This card reminds me why I fell in love with Disney and Pixar in the first place. It's not just about the magic castles and fairy godmothers - though I adore those too! It's about stories that touch your soul (pun absolutely intended) and characters who help us understand ourselves better. Joe's journey from obsessing over his jazz dreams to discovering the beauty of simply living is one of the most profound stories Disney has ever told.
Collector's Notes: VARVAR Variant Value
As a VARVAR variant within the 2025 Topps Chrome Disney base set, card #36b is significantly harder to find than the standard #36 base card. While the regular Joe Gardner card shows him as we know him in life - middle-aged music teacher with his signature fedora and passion for jazz - this variant offers something entirely different and more mystical. VARVAR cards are typically inserted at lower odds than base cards, making them special pulls that serious collectors seek out.
This card particularly appeals to several collector groups: Pixar completists who want every character variation, Soul superfans who connected deeply with the film's themes, and chrome parallel hunters who appreciate the visual impact of the refractor finish on this ethereal design. The soul form also makes this card a standout display piece - it looks incredible next to other mystical or cosmic Disney cards like Yen Sid's sorcerer magic or Genie's lamp escapes.
From the Great Before to Your Binder
When it comes to storing and displaying this beauty, I recommend a quality top loader or magnetic one-touch case to protect that gorgeous chrome finish. The card deserves to be visible - don't hide it away in a dark box! I keep mine in a display case on my Disney shelf, positioned next to my Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards (remember those?!) and my other Pixar chrome cards. The blue glow of Joe's soul form creates a beautiful visual harmony with cards like Sadness from Inside Out and the cosmic backgrounds from other space-themed Disney films.
Some collectors are even building themed "transformation" or "alternate form" sections in their binders, pairing cards like this Joe Gardner soul variant with other VARVAR cards that show characters in different states - like Beast in both human and cursed forms, or Luca and Alberto in their sea monster versions. It's a creative way to showcase the storytelling magic that makes Disney and Pixar films so special.
Why This Card Hits Different
You know what I love most about this card? It represents a moment of pure acceptance and peace in Joe's story. When he's in soul form, stripped of all earthly concerns and physical appearance, he discovers what it really means to live. That's heavy stuff for a trading card, but that's exactly why it matters! Disney and Pixar have always been about more than entertainment - they teach us, comfort us, and inspire us to be better.
The 2025 Topps Chrome Disney set has done an incredible job honoring these deeper themes while delivering that signature chrome quality we crave as collectors. Whether you're building the complete base set, chasing all the VARVAR variants, or simply collecting cards that speak to your soul (there I go again!), this Joe Gardner soul form card is an absolute must-have.
So keep those packs popping, check your trade binders, and don't sleep on this variant! It's a card that reminds us to appreciate the little things, embrace the spark of life, and maybe - just maybe - play a little jazz while we're organizing our collections. After all, life's too short not to surround ourselves with the magic that makes our souls sing.
Happy collecting, and remember - you're never too old to chase your dreams or pull that perfect chrome variant! ✨🎵
