McDonald's 2026 FIFA World Cup Squishmallows - Winnia the Walrus
When Soccer Dreams Meet Collectible Plushes
Every few years, McDonald's teams up with Squishmallows to deliver something genuinely special for collectors and families alike. This year, the collaboration celebrates the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and I'm hooked. The 2026 FIFA World Cup Squishmallows lineup brings together beloved Squishmallow characters reimagined with soccer spirit, and Winnia the Walrus is one of the standout figures in the set.
Winnia arrives as a plush figure roughly 5 inches tall - perfectly sized for display on a shelf or tucked into a collection bin. The sculpt captures Squishmallows' trademark softness while adding just enough detail to make her special. Her walrus features are unmistakable: the characteristic tusks, whiskers, and expressive face all come through in the molded fabric, while her sports-themed outfit - featuring World Cup colors and graphics - tells the story of this promotional moment.
Build Quality and Design Details
What impresses me most about Winnia is the paint application. Unlike some fast-made promotional figures, the colors are crisp and intentional. The World Cup branding doesn't feel like an afterthought - it's integrated into the design. The fabric feels consistent with other Squishmallows from this era: soft polyester that holds its shape without feeling thin or cheap.
As a collector who appreciates durability, I appreciate that these plushes are stitched solidly. The seams look clean, and there's no loose threading or quality shortcuts. This is a figure that will hold up whether displayed in a climate-controlled cabinet or occasionally handled by eager collectors.
Set Context and Completeness
Winnia is part of a broader World Cup collection, with multiple characters representing different nations and themes. If you're completing the full set, you'll want to hunt down the other figures. Each one carries its own personality and World Cup connection, making them work beautifully as a display cluster.
World Cup promotions at McDonald's always feel different from character-led waves. There's something about international sports partnerships that elevate a Happy Meal toy from "fun collectible" to "meaningful keepsake." This set strikes that balance perfectly.
Display and Long-Term Appeal
Where Winnia shines is in mixed displays. Group her with other World Cup Squishmallows, and you've created a themed shelf that tells a story. She works equally well in a Squishmallows-only collection or as part of a broader McDonald's Happy Meal display organized by franchise or year.
Storage-wise, plushes like Winnia benefit from a breathable bin or shelf space where she won't be crushed. Given the investment many collectors make in Squishmallows, I recommend keeping her away from direct sunlight to preserve the color vibrancy of those World Cup graphics.
Collector's Notes
This figure appeals broadly - to soccer fans, Squishmallows collectors, and parents who remember the joy of hunting through Happy Meals for the "right" toy. The walrus character itself has nostalgic appeal that transcends the sports theme, and the quality suggests this set is worth keeping long-term. Five years from now, a complete 2026 FIFA World Cup collection will feel like a time capsule of this particular moment in McDonald's promotions.
If you find Winnia while collecting this wave, don't pass her up. She represents solid craftsmanship, a globally significant sporting event, and the kind of joyful collaboration that makes Happy Meal collecting worthwhile. And if you're still hunting for her - or for others in this set - feel free to check out my needs list where I'm tracking the ones that have gotten away.
