McDonald's 2026 FIFA World Cup Squishmallows - Waverly the Butterfly
World Cup Excitement in Plush Form
There's something special about Happy Meal promotions tied to global events. When McDonald's partners with FIFA, collectors know a solid wave of Squishmallows is coming. The 2026 FIFA World Cup Squishmallows bring that championship energy to kids' meals worldwide, and McDonald's FIFA World Cup Squishmallow Waverly is genuinely one of my favorites from this collection. Butterflies always add a cheerful, uplifting touch to any display.
Waverly is a soft, rounded plush with the classic Squishmallow silhouette that kids and collectors have come to love. She's sized perfectly for a Happy Meal toy - substantial enough to feel like a genuine prize, but light and cuddly enough that kids actually want to carry her around. The butterfly sculpt is playful and charming without tipping into overly cartoonish territory, which is exactly the balance that makes Squishmallows so successful year after year.
What caught my eye immediately is the paint work. Waverly's body has clean, precise coloring, and her wings show thoughtful detailing that gives her real character without overdoing it. For a mass-produced Happy Meal toy, the quality is genuinely solid across the board. The fabric feels soft to the touch, and the stitching is tight and secure - this is a plush built to withstand both play and long-term collecting.
Wave Hunting and Set Completion
The FIFA World Cup promo runs as a numbered wave, so knowing Waverly's position in the lineup matters if you're chasing full set completion. From what I've observed hunting at local McDonald's, butterfly and animal-themed characters from these international event promos tend to be popular finds. Kids are naturally drawn to butterflies, which means Waverly moves faster than some of the more niche characters in the collection.
If you're a completionist like me, this is the kind of promo where character availability and regional variations can play a role. McDonald's global footprint means that depending on your location, certain characters show up more frequently than others. That said, Waverly seems to be a consistent presence, which is encouraging for anyone still hunting. She's worth the effort to track down.
The wave context adds another layer. Understanding whether Waverly is the main attraction of her wave or more of a supporting character helps with expectations. Most kids' meal Squishmallows work well either way - the promo itself carries enough appeal that every character finds collectors.
FIFA World Cup merchandise hits different because the tournament itself carries such genuine global energy. Kids who collect these Squishmallows will remember 2026 every time they look at Waverly.
Keeping and Displaying Waverly
Waverly fits seamlessly into any Squishmallow display strategy. Her soft wings and rounded body mean she sits stably on shelves without rolling or tipping, and butterflies are naturally eye-catching focal points. I've arranged mine with other FIFA promo Squishmallows, but she works just as well mixed into a general collection, sorted by character type, or displayed with other animal-themed plushes.
From a durability perspective, Squishmallows hold up remarkably well to light play and regular handling. This Happy Meal version is no exception to that quality standard. Storage in a dry bin or shelf keeps her protected long-term from dust and fading. As a parent of three, I appreciate that Squishmallows are inherently gentle and safe - there's nothing sharp, fragile, or concerning about Waverly. She's a toy kids can actually enjoy.
Long-term collecting value comes from both the World Cup connection and the overall wave completeness. Collectors who love sports-themed promos, FIFA merchandise, or just beautiful Squishmallow sculpts will treasure her for years. Personally, I've added Waverly to my needs list in the Collectiblz app - she's definitely one I'm still actively hunting for.
